Fly Fishing Chile - Part 1 - Yellow Dog Field Reports

June 06, 24

Pablo Neruda once described Chile as a country "invented by a poet." Spanning over 2,880 miles along South America's western coast, Chile offers a breathtaking range of landscapes, from the arid Atacama Desert to the majestic Torres del Paine National Park and the rugged beauty of Tierra del Fuego. With one-third of its territory covered by the Andes, Chile's natural wonders are often likened to the US Pacific Northwest. Since the 1980s, Chile has emerged as a top destination for freshwater fly fishing, making it a must-visit for trout anglers worldwide.

In Part 1 of this series, Yellow Dog's Jack Porter and cinematographer Chris Patterson travel to Eleven Experience's Martin Pescador Lodge. Martin Pescador Lodge offers anglers a diverse fishing experience with access to twelve rivers, eight lakes, and numerous streams teeming with rainbow and brown trout, and occasionally salmon or sea-run brown trout.
