Yellow Dog Expanding Operations to Include Full Retail Offerings

Greetings from Montana and Yellow Dog Flyfishing. We have expanded our travel and booking business to include retail gear and equipment offerings, and we’ve recently acquired Bozeman’s local fly shop, Fins & Feathers. Yellow Dog assumed ownership of the retail store on November 1st, and we could not be more excited for our customers and traveling clients moving forward.
We wanted to communicate why this expansion would be great for our customers and the company!

1. Many of our long-time travel customers will initially ask, “Why?” Very simply, Yellow Dog has always put our customers first. For years, the one gap in our service offerings had been the ability to ensure that our clients had the proper flies, equipment, and apparel for every destination we offered. Be it a fishery close to home, or an exotic destination halfway around the world, having the right gear specific to a destination is crucial. By adding a well-established retail offering to our existing travel platform, we can pair specific gear and equipment with the most relevant information for our entire line-up of locations and fisheries.
   
   
2. For the near future, our retail operations and offerings will revolve around the current brick-and-mortar shop services in our Four Corners location – eight miles west of our downtown travel headquarters in Bozeman. You can call the fly shop for any retail or equipment needs, and our team will be available at 406-586-2188. From a hand-picked fly selection to a new pair of waders, to the new bonefish reel you’ve been thinking about, we’ve got you covered!
   
   
3. In the spring of 2023, we will launch Yellow Dog’s new travel and e-commerce platform – a site we believe will redefine retail options and support services for the traveling angler. As we get closer to the official launch date of the new platform and website, we will certainly stay in touch to share this news!
   
   
4. The fly shop has been rebranded as “Yellow Dog Flyfishing,” and if you live in Montana or happen to be passing through the area, you will see shop renovations, new signs, and a new look in the weeks ahead. Having been in business for 23 years, the shop already has the broadest selection of product lines and top-tier brands found anywhere. With Bozeman’s largest and most complete offering of flies, fly rods, reels, fly lines, waders, wading boots, and fly tying supplies, our current product lines include Simms, Sage, Scott, Skwala, Hardy, Orvis, Patagonia, Scientific Anglers, Rio, Costa, Umpqua, Hatch, Ross, G. Loomis, Waterworks-Lamson, Fishpond, Abel, Thomas & Thomas, Smith, Korkers, Bajio, and many others.
   
   
5. The authentic, friendly service and professionalism that the shop has been known for over the past 23 years will continue, with many of the same shop personnel and team members still there to help. Moving forward, you can expect the same excellent service, attention to detail, and availability with our retail offerings that you’ve experienced with our travel services since 2000. We are here to help in any way we can, and we look forward to serving you with all aspects of trip selection, travel logistics, and equipment preparation.
   
   
6. Whether you have trip dates for later in 2023 or 2024, or you’re prepping for an adventure in the near future, we are here and ready to help. Our team can hand-select equipment for any destination that Yellow Dog represents. We have a fantastic inventory on hand right now, and we even have Yellow Dog gift cards available for the upcoming holiday season.

Once again, this decision to expand company services and diversify our offerings into retail sales was driven by a desire to better serve and prepare traveling anglers. Yellow Dog currently represents more than 240 different lodge and outfitting destinations in 37 countries, and we now have the ability to ensure that every client arrives with the right gear, flies, and equipment – dialed in and ready to go from day one!
