The 790 Asquith is a stout streamer rod that handles sinking lines and big flies with ease in the wind on our Montana rivers around Bozeman. Spiral-X Technology makes this rod lighter in-hand than most and durable for years of use in saltwater as a Bonefish rod in addition to a great streamer fly rod choice. 

Technology 

Spiral X® Shimano’s proprietary Spiral X technology utilizes triple layer construction consisting of an oblique fiber core layer, a longitudinal middle layer, and a reverse-oblique fiber outer layer. This unique construction increases rigidity without increasing weight, providing virtually instantaneous power transmission when casting or fighting a fish.

• 15% to 20% less material than traditional rod construction
• Increased torsional stability offers 20% less twist than traditional rod construction
• Reduced blank ovalization

Construction - Spiral X construction consists of three layers: an inner and outer layer of seamless Infinity Tape tightly wound diagonally in opposite directions, and a layer of vertical fibers called Muscle Carbon in between.  Utilizing Infinity Tape in place of a traditional sheet of horizontal fibers reduces overall weight and creates actions with superior torsional rigidity and hoop strength.

Muscle Carbon - A high modulus sheet of vertical fibers that provides strength and lifting power.

Infinity Tape - A seamless roll of pre-impregnated graphite tape rolled diagonally onto the mandrel. When overlapped with an additional layer at an opposing angle, the X orientation of fibers eliminates ovalization and twist, considered the main catalyst for rod breakage.

Warranty

G. Loomis rods are covered by a Limited Lifetime Warranty against non-conformities in workmanship and materials for the life of the original owner. GL push poles, Venture (Adventure) fly reels, and GL fly rod outfits are covered against non-conformances in workmanship and materials for a period of one year from the date of purchase. Premier Rods (PMR) are covered against non-conformances in workmanship and materials for a period of two years from date of purchase. Demo rods are not covered under warranty. Sales receipt or proof of purchase required.

There are several levels of performance in the G.Loomis rod line-up and understandably, different price points, depending on materials, components and design elements.
