Yellow Dog Fly Shop: 2025 Winter Programs & Presentations

Join Yellow Dog throughout the winter season every Wednesday night at the Yellow Dog Fly Shop in Four Corners for a series of talks, programs, tying presentations, and destination profiles with special guests. All Wednesday presentations begin at 6:00 PM and are free and open to everyone. Definitely feel free to BYOB and bring tying materials and tools for any and all tying programs.

Wednesday, January 15th
Fish for Change - Delaney Hutcheson, Ellen Bogucki, and Bodhi Moomaw 
Fly Fishing Honduras - Matt Kelsic
Delaney Hutcheson, Ellen Bogucki, and Bodhi Moomaw will be presenting on Fish for Change, a non-profit that offers one-week summer fly fishing expeditions to Honduras, the Bahamas, Mexico, and Costa Rica, bringing together students from diverse backgrounds who share a passion for the outdoors. Belize and Honduras Program Director, Matt Kelsic, will be presenting on the different fisheries of Honduras, equipment, species, lodge options and more.

Matching the Hatch Through the Season & Box Organization for On Water Efficiency - Rick Wollum
Rick is a long-time area guide who has called the Paradise Valley home for many years. From full-time guide to fly shop manager to river advocate, Rick knows the Yellowstone and the Valley as well as any person can. Rick will be presenting on matching the hatch through the season and tips for box organization for better on-water effiency.

Tying Technical Mayfly and Caddis Emergers - Dan & Doug Daufel
Dan and Doug are some of the best dry fly anglers – and tyers – in the game! They have spent years fishing the Henry’s Fork and throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, and were part of the old-school Blue Ribbon Flies gang with Craig Matthews and John Juracek. Dan and Doug will be tying technical emerger patterns and talking about hatch-specific techniques and fly design.

Angler, Outfitter, Guide, and Advocate for Environmental Conservation - Hilary Hutcheson
Hilary is an award-winning filmmaker, journalist, and contributing editor at Fly Fisherman Magazine. Hilary has testified to the US House and US Senate on the economic importance of public lands and climate action. She is a professional angler for YETI, Patagonia, Costa, Orvis and Scientific Anglers.

The Salmonfly Project - Jackson Birrell & James Frakes
Jackson Birrell and James Frakes will be presenting on The Salmonfly Project -- A conservation effort to better understand the decline of aquatic insects throughout the US West, and what work toward revitalizing the crucial elements of fly fishing

Reading Trout Rise Forms - John Hudgens
Former guide throughout Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming and Director of Angler's Academy, John Hudgens is one of the most experienced and knowledgeable anglers in the U.S. Rockies.

Exploring Yellowstone's Overlooked Waters - Craig Mathews
A man who knows the Yellowstone as well as anyone, legendary fly designer, angler, and conservationist Craig Mathews will be presenting on the overlooked waters of the Yellowstone.

Realistic Flies for Trophy Trout in High Mountain Lakes - Glenn Owens
Owner of the Montana state record Grayling, Glen is one of the most accomplished anglers in the region when it comes to lakes and stillwater fishing. Glen will be tying his favorite and unique stillwater patterns and discussing effective techniques for area lakes. Feel free to bring your vice and materials.
