Accommodation Details
Situated on a private tidal inlet of Thorne Bay, Alaska, Boardwalk Lodge sits on 26 acres of oceanfront property overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Comfortably accommodating up to 30 guests at a time, the lodge features private guestrooms that are well-appointed and cater well to all walks of guests. The lodge has been described as "rustic elegance," with each suite or room featuring a private bath, comfortable beds, and relaxation after your day's activities.
A 300-yard boardwalk connects the lodge's scenic grounds, from the boat docks to the main lodge and guesthouses. Guests have access to other amenities such as the lodge's on-site jacuzzi, canoes and kayaks, fire pit, horseshoes, and common areas.
Food and Beverages
Boardwalk Lodge prides itself on delivering an incomparable 5-star culinary experience during each guest's stay. A casual breakfast is served each morning with a variety of healthy and hearty options, eggs cooked to order, fresh breads and muffins, and a selection of breakfast meats and sausages as well as French toast, pancakes, and waffles. Snacks and drinks are packed for your daily activities, and a daily lunch buffet is offered for guests to choose what they would like during their day on the water. After your day of activities, a hors d'oeuvres reception is offered each day from 5:30 – 6:30 PM with delicious appetizers and beverages. Dinner is where the Boardwalk culinary team really shines and is able to show their expertise and creativity with plenty of variety during your stay. Menu items typically include local and seasonal ingredients, fresh seafood, a variety of soups and salads, entrees, and desserts each evening.
Non-Angling Activities and Options
For any guests interested in exploring the surrounding area, Boardwalk Lodge offers various other adventures, including fjord and glacier tours, bear and whale watching, nature walks, and much more.
Internet / Communications
Wi-Fi access is available at the lodge. Cell phone reception can sometimes work on the island, depending on your carrier, with good connection with Wi-Fi calling.
How to Get There
Most guests choose to travel via air by flying to Seattle International Airport (SEA) and then take a 90-minute flight via Alaska Airlines to Ketchikan International Airport (KTN). Guests must arrive at Ketchikan no later than 4:30 PM to reach the lodge on the same day as their trip start date. If you are scheduled to arrive in Ketchikan after 4:30 PM, guests will need to overnight in Ketchikan that evening before flying to the lodge the following day.
Upon arrival into Ketchikan, Boardwalk Lodge will assist in arranging air transportation, which is typically a scenic 30-minute floatplane flight to the lodge (included in package). After your stay, guests are flown back to Ketchikan to make their departing flights home. Early morning departures are discouraged due to possible fog delays.
Minors Traveling Without Both Parents
All children 18 years of age or younger accompanied by only one parent or legal guardian must have a NOTARIZED letter of consent from the other parent stating the child/children have his/her permission to travel. Single parents need NOTARIZED documentation of divorce or a spousal death certificate. Unaccompanied Minors require a NOTARIZED letter of consent signed by both parents.
Documents Required
Photo identification is required by airlines to purchase your Alaska Fishing License. Licenses can be purchased on the first day of your trip or online before your trip by visiting this website: Alaska Department of Fish and Game.

With immediate access to Alaska's famed Inside Passage, Boardwalk Lodge offers anglers an incredibly diverse range of fishing options – including almost unlimited options for both freshwater and saltwater. Boardwalk Lodge, an Orvis endorsed lodge, is one of the most diverse fishing programs we have found in the entire state of Alaska, and it caters well to almost any angler out there. The lodge offers freshwater and saltwater fishing options, including both fly and conventional fishing techniques, and plenty of options to choose from daily. Each evening, anglers can select the fishing scenarios they want to experience during their stay. Options for freshwater fly fishing include wild spring steelhead, cutthroat, chum, pink and silver salmon, along with dolly varden in rivers, lakes, and streams. Anglers also have the option to add on some saltwater fishing opportunities for species like halibut, rockfish, lingcod, and all five species of Pacific salmon. Boardwalk Lodge is truly in a league of its own regarding the diversity of species and fishing scenarios available during your stay.
Boats and Equipment
Boardwalk Lodge has a variety of boats available for their U.S. Coastguard-approved captains to access different areas of the watershed each day. The lodge can also outfit any guests with high-quality fishing gear if needed for both freshwater and saltwater fishing, fly, and conventional gear. The lodge provides high-quality rods, reels, waders, and boots for any guests needing to borrow gear during their stay. Flies, lures, and terminal tackle are included in your package. As an Orvis endorsed lodge, they exclusively offer top of the line Orvis freshwater fly fishing gear to all their guests.

Payment Terms for All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
