Lodging Details
Originally founded in 1950 as a fishing camp, Brooks Lodge has evolved into a premier lodge and family destination with modern accommodations. Guest lodging consists of sixteen (16) guest rooms that can accommodate two to four (2 – 4) guests each, all with showers, private toilet facilities, heat, and electricity. There is also a nearby campground for those that prefer to camp. The Main Lodge sits adjacent to the Brooks River and overlooks the glaciated waters of Naknek Lake, all surrounded by the jagged peaks of Katmai National Park. This is an ideal destination for groups of friends, anglers, non-anglers, and families looking for more than just a hardcore fishing trip. It is also a great add-on to a longer lodge stay, and can effectively be included as a two to three-day add-on package.
Food and Beverages
The Main Lodge’s large circular fireplace is popular for evening relaxing and reminiscing about the day’s adventures. A large selection of hot food is served three times a day, buffet-style in the Lodge dining hall. Beer, wine, and cocktails are available for purchase at the Lodge bar each afternoon and evening. There is also a small store, the Trading Post, selling snacks and soft drinks, as well as personal items, souvenirs, and fishing tackle.
Typical Length of Stay
Trips and packages of any length can be arranged, and anglers and non-anglers can arrive and depart on any day of the week. Please call Yellow Dog for details and itinerary options.
Non-Angling Activities and Options
Many non-angling opportunities are available at Brooks Lodge, including flightseeing, bear viewing, hiking, photography, bird watching, canoeing, and kayaking. At Brooks Lodge, you are just 22 miles from the volcanic “Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes.†The Valley is the site of one of the most violent eruptions in modern history. Novarupta Volcano exploded in 1912 with blasts of hot winds and gas which spewed glowing pumice and ash, destroying all living things and burying more than 40 square miles of the lush green valley under ash deposits to depths of 700 feet. Tours of “The Valley of Ten Thousand Smokes†depart from Brooks Lodge daily.
Internet / Communications
The Lodge does not have Wi-Fi or phone service available. Cell phones and internet access will be available in Anchorage.

General Information
The majority of the fishing at Brooks Lodge takes place on the Brooks River
as well as numerous lakes and streams in the Naknek drainage. The primary species found in the Brooks River are rainbow trout, Arctic grayling, and sockeye salmon. Daily fly-out options to the nearby Kulik River and other rivers and streams are also available if arranged prior to arrival. Options to fish in nearby hidden streams, accessible by boat for rainbow trout, sockeye salmon, Arctic grayling, Arctic char, northern pike, and lake trout can also make for an incredible day of fishing. Many anglers that visit Brooks fish on their own on the home waters of the lodge. This is a very easy thing to do, as the river itself is only two miles long. Upon arrival at the Lodge guests are taken on a half-day (four hours) guided Brooks River orientation.
Boats and Equipment
Yellow Dog recommends that anglers bring their own gear and equipment, including rods, reels, wading boots, flies, and all terminal tackle. Licenses, flies, and basic terminal tackle are available for purchase at the Trading Post. Rental rods, reels, and waders can also be rented at the Trading Post for guests that do not want to pack their own.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
A non-refundable deposit of 50% per person is due at the time of booking for all lodging and fishing packages, and final payment if due 90 days prior to arrival. For cancellations, all deposits and payments are non-refundable unless dates are resold. In the event that dates are resold by either the lodge or by Yellow Dog, then a full refund will be issued minus a 5% service fee charged by the lodge and a $100.00 per person cancellation fee charged by Yellow Dog. If necessary, reservations may be rescheduled through the next operating season and all payments previously received towards the original reservation will apply as credits towards the rescheduled trip reservation when possible. Please note, however, that this is entirely at the discretion of the lodge. Cancelled reservations, where rescheduling trip dates are not an option, resulting in unsold availability, are not refundable. Changes made to a trip itinerary after a trip has begun are not eligible for refund. Flight reservations are refundable, less a $100.00 per person fee (for flights from Anchorage) or $45.00 per person fee (for flights from King Salmon), if cancelled at least 14 days prior to the start of the reservation. In no event will the lodge or Yellow Dog be responsible for any cancellation of services or operations due to inclement weather, any event of force majeure, airline delays, flight cancellations, or any other reason beyond the control of the lodge. The lodge will not refund payments in the event of poor weather, or if arrival flights are cancelled or airline connections are missed. Additionally, the lodge and Yellow Dog are not responsible for alternative travel arrangements including flights, hotels, meals and any other expenses incurred. Brooks Lodge reserves the right to cancel or alter scheduled flights, tours or itineraries as situations or conditions require for safe operations due to weather or other factors beyond their control. Fly-out day trips will be refunded if aircraft cannot fly due to inclement weather. Day trips that are delayed will still take place if at least four (4) hours on the ground at Brooks is possible. For all of these reasons, and because of the lodge’s no refund and no credit policy, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance and full coverage for your trip. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that the registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages. Once again, Yellow Dog strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance these Alaska packages.
