Description

RIO Elite Flats Pro

Conquer the flats with RIO’s Flats Pro tropical saltwater line. This line has a mid length head and long back taper for smooth, effortless loops, and a weight distribution that provide perfect presentations of just about any fly you are likely to use. Each line is built on RIO’s low-memory DirectCore that is extremely easy to anneal (stretch) and lies perfectly straight on the water, yet retains the stiffness needed to cast in hot conditions. In addition the line is built with SlickCast—the slickest, most durable coating on the market. This line is a full intermediate sinking line, and an excellent option for off shore, and around rock marks and structure. It is particularly great when there is any kind of "wave" or "swell" as it gets under the surface and ensures angler stay in touch with the fly at all times.

Flats Pro

There are a lot of good fly lines on the market, but I keep going back to the Flats Pro as my preferred floating line. I fish it on my 8 weight for bonefish and 9 weight for permit. While there are other lines out there with larger shooting heads for ease of making quick, long casts, I am more concerned with presentation when fishing to bones and permit. These heavy heads can sometimes feel laborious or clunky in the air, and a more gradual taper is going to land gentler. It all depends on usage, but when fishing on shallow flats to spooky fish, I want something that can make both a short and long cast quickly and land with minimal disturbance. The Flats Pro does that for me.
