Yellowstone Valley Lodge – recently renovated and re-opened – is a highly-personalized Montana fishing lodge located in beautiful Paradise Valley, Montana. Built directly on the banks of the world-famous Yellowstone River – known for its prolific hatches and excellent cutthroat and rainbow fishing – YVL offers the finest location in the entire area. Through head guide and outfitter Eric Adams, the Lodge is committed to offering the best Montana fly fishing experiences on the world-famous waters of the Yellowstone, Madison, and Boulder Rivers, as well as area spring creeks that include Armstrong’s, DePuy’s, and Nelson’s. From any of the ranch’s 16 private riverside cabins, you look directly over the Yellowstone River in the shadow of Dexter Point (elevation 9,859 feet). Notable additions to the Lodge include new and upgraded furnishings in the cabins, added availability for additional activities such as hiking, rafting, horseback riding, and coordinated transportation services to and from the airport in Bozeman.

Lodging Details
The Yellowstone Valley Lodge is situated in the heart of Paradise Valley with an incredible view of the western edge of the Absaroka mountain range. From any of the lodge’s 16 private riverside cabins, you look directly over the Yellowstone River in the shadow of Dexter Point (elevation 9,859 feet). Deep sleep, gorgeous views, the sound of the river—this is a place to relax and take it all in. With an abundance of opportunities to relax or play, the lodge cabins offer an opportunity to get away from it all.

Deluxe Fishing Package
The VIP of fishing packages with access to hundreds of miles of Blue Ribbon trout streams, the finest dining, and deluxe accommodations offered in Paradise Valley! This package includes accommodations in the newly constructed loft-style, riverside cabins featuring two bedrooms, two baths, a living area, kitchenette, flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, central heat/air conditioning, and a large private deck overlooking the Yellowstone River.

Standard Package
Includes lodging in the “cozy cabins”, each featuring two queen beds, a full bath, sitting area, mini-fridge, personal coffee brewers, air conditioning, and a semi-private deck overlooking the Yellowstone River. The Standard Fishing Package offers the same great fishing and dining opportunities but is built for anglers more concerned about their budget than accommodations.

Food and Beverages
The Lodge’s gourmet five-star fare is served at the Yellowstone Valley Grill, which is open to the public for dinner. Chef Marcos Mustain will entice you with his use of fresh, organic, and locally-sourced ingredients, all prepared in an open kitchen, and served with views of the Yellowstone and the Absarokas. The Lodge will cater continental breakfasts to lodge guests daily, and a boxed lunch will be prepared for you to take along on your day’s adventure. Please let us know prior to arrival if we can accommodate any special dietary needs for you. Don’t let the sophisticated wine and beer list fool you: waders are always acceptable dinner duds. In the summers, enjoy dining on the patio, where clean alpine air and river songs pair perfectly with seasonally-changing dishes.

Non-Angling Activities and Options
We are happy to assist you or your family in the organization of non-angling activities during your stay. Remember that we can customize your package! If you want to fish less and sight-see more, let us know. Area activities include sporting clay shooting, horseback riding, swimming and soaking at Chico Hot Springs, guided tours of Yellowstone National Park, self-guided tours of the Park, mountain biking, hiking, scenic flights, Chico Day Spa and Massage, whitewater rafting, or golf at the Livingston Country Club.

Wi-Fi is available free of charge and most cell phones work in Montana. Be sure to check with your service provider prior to your trip regarding specific coverage in the area.

General Information
Yellowstone Valley Lodge has compiled an extensive network of fisheries and guides so that the decisions on where you’ll fish can be made well in advance of your arrival in Montana. At the same time, they will constantly monitor fishing conditions throughout the area during your stay so that you’ll always be on the waters which are producing the best.   Located on the banks of the world-famous Yellowstone River (with a very good home riffle located directly in front of the lodge) YYL has the perfect location. As the longest un-dammed trout stream on earth, the Yellowstone River provides over 300 miles of fishable, trout-bearing water. This river is known for its prolific hatches and excellent cutthroat and rainbow fishing. A great river for both long floats and wading! The fly fishing on the Yellowstone River is excellent, recognized internationally as one of the premier trout waters in the United States.

Yellowstone River – Gardiner to Livingston
In this “upper” section, the Yellowstone River flows un-dammed through gorgeous scenery. In the rivers upper stretch, it flows from Gardiner, Montana, through the beautiful Paradise Valley, with the Absaroka Mountains flanking the river on all sides. The Yellowstone River leaves the mountains near Livingston where it enters the high plains.

Yellowstone River – Livingston to Big Timber
Below Livingston, fishing pressure is less than further upstream. As the Yellowstone River flows through this section, it is no longer in a scenic valley. Instead, it runs through true “high plains” country, with the Absaroka Mountains now to the south and the Crazy Mountains becoming visible to the northeast. Healthy populations of rainbow and brown trout are found along this stretch. Additionally, the fish in this section of the Yellowstone River tend to be larger than further upstream. The larger fish, combined with reduced fishing pressure (the further downstream you go from Livingston, the less fishing pressure exists), can make for some wonderful fly fishing possibilities.

Area Spring Creeks
These world-renowned spring creeks, located in Paradise Valley, are just minutes away from Yellowstone Valley Ranch. The ranch currently has more prime-time spring creek rod days available than any other outfitter. Hone your skills casting 6X tippets and small flies at large, selective trout. Experience the great Pale Morning Dun hatch starting in June, moving into terrestrials and sulfurs later in the summer, and follow it up with fall baetis hatches in September and October. The Spring Creeks offer everything from sight nymphing to dry fly fishing for the discriminating angler.

Yellowstone National Park
The famous waters of Slough Creek, Lamar, and Soda Butte are all easily accessible from the Yellowstone Valley Ranch. These streams can offer some of the best fishing for cutthroat trout in the summer and early fall that you will ever see. Take the opportunity to fish alongside a feeding bison, with the chance to see all the wildlife the park has to offer. The Lamar Valley is the best spot in the park to see wolves and bears, in addition to the always present bison and elk. The northwestern waters of Yellowstone National Park such as the Firehole, upper Madison, and the Gibbon are all great places to fish during a short tour of the Park.

YVL’s guide program is operated by Montana Fly Fishing Guides, LLC. This great team of guides has been hand-picked over the last decade to create one of the finest groups of guides you’ll ever run across. These are professional fishing guides with years of experience on every piece of water in the area. These guys all have a passion for fly fishing that has taken them across the country and around the world to pursue fish on the fly.

Boats and Equipment
Float fishing is done from modern skiffs and MacKenzie-style drift boats. The Lodge can also provide rental gear and equipment upon request.

Yellowstone Valley Lodge (Paradise Valley, Montana)
TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
A refundable deposit of 50% per person is due at the time of booking for all trip packages and reservations, and final payment if due 90 days prior to arrival. All trip cancellations must be received in writing, sent to Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, LLC. For all cancellations outside of 45 days of scheduled arrival at the lodge, a full refund or trip credit (minus a $100.00 per person lodge cancellation fee and a $100.00 per person Yellow Dog cancellation fee) will be issued by the lodge. For cancellations inside of 45 days from start of trip date, deposits and final payments will be forfeited, and no refund or credit will be issued. If a cancelled package is resold by either the lodge or by Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, then a full refund will be sent minus a $75.00 per person lodge re booking fee plus a $100.00 per person Yellow Dog cancellation fee. In the case of cancellation by the client, both deposit and final payment may be transferred to another guest or angler for those same (original) dates if facilitated and arranged by the client. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages. Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures strongly recommends that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance for this trip.

Payment Terms for All Yellow Dog Trip Bookings
Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
