The inaugural Big Yard Bonefish Classic will be held on February 21-26, 2023, at Swain’s Cay Lodge on Andros Island, Bahamas.
The Big Yard Bonefish Classic proceeds will go to the Mangrove Cay Recreational Community Park Association and will be facilitated through the Yellow Dog Community and Conservation Foundation. The MCRCPA has been working for the last two years on building a recreational park for the Little Harbor community.
They have completed a basketball court that sees daily use and are moving forward with the next stage of building which will include bleachers, restrooms, and further land clearing. The Swain’s Cay Lodge Reefside Restaurant & Bar is located on the beach and serves up delicious three-course dinners of fresh lobster, fish, ribs, chicken, and conch. A home flat spans the water just beyond the lodge, where anglers can fish independently anytime during their stay. Andros Island is known as the “Bonefish Capital of the World,” where an expansive system of natural channels bisect the islands, creating hundreds of square miles of shallow lagoons and white sand flats where bonefish flourish.
With easy access to the best fishing areas, guides will take you to where the tides and winds are most favorable on any given day. Swain’s home water is the middle and south bight, which are vast and diverse fisheries that hold great numbers of bonefish - everything from easy-to-catch “schoolie-sized” fish all the way up to some of the largest bonefish that swim in the Bahamas.
The west side of Andros is only a 40-minute boat run away and is a great spot for larger bonefish along with seasonal opportunities for tarpon and permit. As always, YDCCF is grateful for your generous support, and we look forward to seeing you at Swain's Cay Lodge in February!
