December 2024 Client Trip Recap: El Pescador Lodge

December 09, 24

A great review of Yellow Dog client Jordan H. on his booking process and lodge experience at Belize's El Pescador Lodge:

Did you find the trip booking process through Yellow Dog enjoyable and useful? If not, please share why.
-Ā I would highly recommend the booking process. The instructions and communication made the trip seamless for us.

Were the Yellow Dog pre-trip planning packet(s) and travel itinerary you received for your trip helpful and accurate? If not, how could it be improved?
-Ā I would not have changed anything.

Did the lodging (rooms, dining area, social area, etc) match what you were expecting? If not, please provide additional comments or constructive feedback.
- We were blown away by the lodge and the welcoming nature of the facilities.

Did the food (breakfast, lunch, dinner) match what you were expecting? If not, please provide additional comments or constructive feedback.
-Ā The menus were beyond what we were expecting. Every meal was delicious and we weren't left wanting anything.

Do you have any comments or constructive feedback based on the service, friendliness, etc of the lodge staff?
-Ā I can't thank them enough. This was a special trip that exceeded any and all expectations.

Were you pleased with your guide(s) customer service, communication skills, professionalism, work ethic, and general fishing knowledge? If not, please share why.
- Our guide was a perfect match for us. He was patient with us as we learned, corrected as needed, put us on fish and positioned us to maximize our skill levels. We will be requesting to fish again with him in the future.

What key piece(s) of gear, tackle, flies, soft goods, etc. made your trip successful?
-Ā I think I would add that rods needed for this trip would be an 8,9 and 10 weight for this time of year. You could take an intermediate 10 weight line for tarpon but we only used that one day. We only took an 8 and 10 weight rod and luckily the lodge had equipment for us to use. But those three rods are very necessary for this location. 7/8 weight for bone fish, 9 for permit and 10 for tarpon.

What piece(s) of equipment would you not leave home without for this trip?
-Ā I wish I would have packed a second set of sunglasses for low light conditions, a hook sharpener and a better set of pliers. Also, depending on how many days of fishing you would be doing I would recommend to guests to bring 3 of every leader. The guides do not love adding tippet if they can just use new leaders, so we went through more leaders than I had with me. They also prefer longer leaders. We ordered 9 foot, all of the guides recommended 10 foot or more for the next trip.

Would you return to this destination? Please share why or why not.
-Ā I am already planning on going back this coming summer for migratory tarpon.
