While there are indeed a large number of bonefish lodges located on Andros Island and throughout the Bahamas, few offer the “do-it-yourself” options, value, and economy of Mount Pleasant Lodge. This long-time Yellow Dog operation overlooks the huge flats of Andros’ White Bight, one of the most beautiful stretches of bonefish water. With direct wading access to miles of flats, this is a great destination for anglers interested in wade fishing on their own. For those seeking a fully-guided package, Mount Pleasant can arrange guides for any or all of your days at the Lodge (essentially, “a la carte” guided fishing options). A great value and a great destination for small groups or families looking for easy access to the flats in a secluded, private, fish-it-yourself setting.

Lodging Details
Mount Pleasant is a small, quaint lodge with comfortable duplex cottages. Each cottage houses two rooms, with double and single beds and an open living room for socializing and lounging. The bedrooms are fully air-conditioned, and the living rooms have ceiling fans and large windows to take advantage of the trade winds. Each cottage features a verandah overlooking the oceanside flats. A freshwater spigot and hose for rinsing gear, a small kitchenette area, and a private bathroom also accompany each room. The kitchen, dining room, and small bar are located in the Main Lodge. Overall, the Lodge is set up as a “private compound” operation built directly on the beach at the end of a long dirt road. It is private and ideally located for literally walking out of your room and onto the flats.

Food and Beverages
The Main Lodge features a small bar, an outside patio, and the main dining room, where breakfast and dinner are served each day. The food is
traditional Bahamian and American dishes, and the menu can be adapted to suit any request. Alcoholic beverages are BYOB at Mount Pleasant, but are easily available at duty-free in the airport, or have your taxi stop at the store on your way to the lodge.

Typical Length of Stay
Trips of any length are available, and the convenience of the Bahamas makes Andros the perfect getaway for a week-long fishing trip or a quick weekend escape.

Non-Angling Activities and Options
For non-anglers, Andros offers blue holes, birdwatching, kayaking, and nature trails. Scuba diving, snorkeling, and island tours may be arranged upon request. Please keep in mind that Mount Pleasant is a tranquil, secluded location with no real access to towns or structured activities.

Internet / Communications
The Lodge does offer Wi-Fi for guests. Most U.S. cell phones will work on Andros depending on your service plan.

How To Get There
Most travel to Andros Island should route through Nassau International Airport (NAS) due to the frequent flights and reasonable costs. Whether flying into San Andros (Western Air), Andros Town-Fresh Creek (LeAir), Mangrove Cay (Flamingo and LeAir) or Congo Town (Western Air), there are two flights daily into every small airport on Andros. The first flight is typically early in the morning (approximately 6:30 AM) and the second is usually scheduled for later in the afternoon (approximately 3:30 PM). We always suggest a buffer of at least two hours between all arriving flights and departing connecting flights while in Nassau. Charter flights from Florida to Andros can also be arranged. Arrival and Departure Details / Times
Once you arrive in Andros Town Airport, you will want to hail a taxi to take you from the airport to Mount Pleasant Lodge.

Documents Required
All U.S. citizens are required to have a valid passport that does not expire within six (6) months of trip dates. Please be sure that your passport has at least two blanks, unstamped pages remaining in the back, and that it is not torn, delaminated, or damaged in any way.

General Information
Andros Island, located approximately 150 miles east of the Florida Keys, is a premier bonefish destination made up of vast flats, creeks, cays, cuts, mangrove wilderness, and fertile fishing grounds. If you are a first-time saltwater fisherman or an intermediate angler looking to improve, Andros is a great place due to the sheer number of bonefish that inhabit the waters. Anglers new to fishing for bones can easily find areas of the island where they can tune their skills on large numbers of small to medium-sized fish, usually from one to four pounds. Large numbers of these smaller fish are found on White Bight and the waters surrounding Mount Pleasant Fishing Lodge.

For those seeking diversity, there are sometimes limited opportunities for tarpon, permit, jacks, barracuda, sharks, snapper, and several other species. In the area surrounding the Lodge, you can find good numbers of barracuda during higher tides. If you opt for guided days while staying at the Lodge, you can pursue tarpon on Andros’ famed West Side, or permit on nearby deep-water flats.

Over the course of your stay at Mount Pleasant, you can either wade fish on your own, or Yellow Dog can arrange a guide for any (or all) of your days at the Lodge. Wade guides are available for full-day sessions, as are skiff guides, who will fish you throughout the area in a 16-foot Dolphin fats boat. These days can be added to your standard package “a la carte,” making for a very affordable and economical trip package.

Boats and Equipment
Anglers can arrange guided fishing on any or all of their days at Mount Pleasant. Guides utilize high-end 16 to 18-foot skiffs complete with poling platforms, 75-100HP Yamaha outboards, and spacious casting decks. The Lodge does not offer any equipment, flies, or terminal tackle, so it is essential that anglers bring all of their gear, including rods, reels, wading boots, flies, and all terminal tackle.

Remember that Yellow Dog’s services are entirely free! When you book a trip with Yellow Dog, you never pay more than when you book directly with the lodge or outfitter. All prices listed below are per person and quoted in US dollars.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS – CANCELLATIONS
For all cancellations, written notice must be sent to and received by Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, LLC. For cancellations outside of 90 days from beginning of the trip, full amount minus the Yellow Dog handling fee may be refunded or a full credit applied to a future trip booked within one year. This decision will be made by the lodge. No refund will be given for trips cancelled inside of 90 days from start of trip, regardless of reason, although a trip credit may be applied to a future trip to be taken within one year of original date. Again, this decision will be made by the lodge. If a cancelled package is resold by either the lodge or by Yellow Dog Flyfishing Adventures, then a full refund will be sent minus a $100.00 processing fee per guest charged by the lodge (in addition to a $100.00 per person cancellation fee charged by Yellow Dog Flyfishing.) Mt. Pleasant Lodge and Yellow Dog strongly recommend that anglers and guests purchase travel insurance for your trip. Mt. Pleasant Lodge will not refund payments in the event of a hurricane or poor weather. Receipt of deposit and/or final payment is acknowledgment that registrant has read and accepts the deposit, cancellation, refund and responsibility clauses for these packages.

Unless otherwise noted on your invoice, for all trips less than 90 days out, full payment is required after receipt of the confirmation email to secure guides and reservations. For trips outside of 90 days, a 50% deposit is required upon receipt of confirmation email to confirm your reservations.
