Morrish Mouse / Waking Mouse - Size 6

Description
The Morrish Mouse, designed by Ken Morrish, is one of the most effective and widely recognized mouse patterns in modern fly fishing. Built for targeting large predatory trout that feed on small mammals along riverbanks, it combines buoyancy, durability, and lifelike action in a simple, streamlined design.
The fly features a deer hair body trimmed for flotation, with a foam back that keeps it riding high and stable on the surface. A strip of zonker rabbit fur forms the tail, adding natural movement as the fly is skated or swung across the current. Unlike bulkier mouse imitations, the Morrish Mouse is lightweight and easy to cast, while still creating the commotion and silhouette of a swimming rodent.
This pattern is most famously fished in Alaska, Kamchatka, and other northern fisheries where big trout opportunistically feed on mice, but it is also effective anywhere large trout, bass, or even taimen are willing to crush a surface meal. Its durability allows it to withstand multiple eats, and its buoyant construction makes it a reliable choice for long drifts or aggressive skating.
A proven modern classic, the Morrish Mouse has earned its place as a go-to pattern for anglers chasing the thrill of explosive topwater takes.
